Svetlina Juni/July/August 2025
This summer we took another trip to Bulgaria with the Transit. A four-day road trip with three hotel nights, Germany, Hungary and Romania. It is important to take the trip as part of your holiday, and enjoy the trip.
This time the trip went over to Bulgaria by ferry, from Turnu Magurele to Nikopol. A fun experience before the trip to Byala Residence. It was nice to relax here for a few days after the long road trip.
In Svetlina I finally got to test parking the Transit in the garage. I designed the garage high enough to be able to park larger vehicles.
A good news was the new water supply to the village, and the mayor of Svetlina helped arrange the last stretch of water pipes into the property. It was a completely new experience to finally have normal water pressure in the tap, and water to fill the pool.
The bathroom interial had already been chosen in April when we were last here, so all we had to do was pick it up in Burgas and start assembling.
It took almost 4 days to fill the pool, which holds about 50 cubic meters of water, i.e. close to 50,000 liters of water. The pool supplier Nova was on site to prepare the pump and adjust the water level, etc. The water in Bulgaria is hard, so it is normal to lower the PH value by adding acid (PH minus). At the correct PH value (about 7.2), chlorine tablets are added for disinfection. Optimal chlorine efficiency is achieved at a pH of around 7.0.
Other tasks this summer were to bury power, fiber and Cat cables in pipes between the main house and the cabin.
The electrician installed both lights inside the new building, in addition to outdoor lights.
I myself took on the task of cutting down the tree between the house and the cabin. Not exactly a fun task, the needles on this tree were razor sharp and had punctured my bike several times. Another problem was leaves from this tree that constantly ended up in the pool.
Before heading back home to Norway again, I ordered the new Ikea kitchen at IKEA/Burgas, and to have it delivered to the property while I’m back in Norway. Sylvia, my accountant, took care of the delivery.
