Bulair
This time the trip to Bulgaria went in secret. We were to meet our lawyer in Sofia, Mr, Natchev. We flew from Gardermoen to Burgas, rented a car for 7 days and drove to a hotel just on the outskirts of Burgas on the way to Sofia. The next day we drove to Sofia on a good and fast highway. It went in 120-140 all the way, so the trip took about 4 hours including a coffee break at an inn along the road.
The goal of the trip was to register our own bank account with a local bank and then take over a company that can buy and farm in Bulgaria.
Sofia
In Sofia we booked into the Hotel Center in the old town. Mr. Natchev picked us up at the hotel and took us on a guided tour around the old town, showed us the Cort house, the museums, the government quarter and the churches, all wonderful buildings.
He also had some good lie stories to tell :-).
We drank coffee at an Italian restaurant and went through the plan for the next day.
Bulair
Then the trip continued to Bulair and then to Varna. In Varna we were to visit the ‘broker’ and make the purchase of the farm, but some good advice from the lawyer made us wait for the purchase until he had seen all the documents. Here it is important to tread carefully. We had some meetings with Alexi in Bulair and he arranged for us to spend the night on the farm we were going to buy.
Accommodation and hiking in the mountains in Bulair
I was well received by the family who lived on the farm. They had made and made 2 beds for us, and the wood stove was ready to be fired up. It was needed, for it was called in the evening.
The next day we hiked up to the highest point in the Balkan mountains, directly opposite the farm. It was a bit of a walk, but what a view. We took some great pictures of Bulair. Fantastically lush and green.
The journey home without any contract / purchase
It was an overnight stay in Obzor before the trip returned to the home country. It was a depressing mood, because we had made an important decision not to buy the farm in Bulair. There were some important factors that did not fall into place.
